Is Travel Kit the same Cerapresso with just a case?

No. This version has Bluetooth app control as well as the included case. The standard Cerapresso does not have that app feature. If you want fewer settings and don't need a case, Cerapresso is the simpler choice.

The two Outin models

Outin Mino vs Nano:
what has changed?

Mino has 9,000 mAh compared with Nano's 7,500 mAh. Heating time is shorter too: around 150 versus 200 seconds. Mino is shorter and has a larger standard basket. Nano has a larger water reservoir.

If you want 13,500 mAh and a standard 14–16 gram basket on the go, consider Cerapresso. If you'd also like app settings or the 58 mm workflow, take a look at Travel Kit and Ceramax.

ABOUT PRESSURE AND FLAVOUR

Your espresso doesn't need 22 bar.

Around 9 bar is a common starting point for traditional espresso. Water is forced through finely ground coffee, extracting flavour as it passes through. But extra pressure can compress the coffee further. The gaps between the coffee particles become smaller, making it harder for water to flow through. Pumping harder can then mean less flow.

Outin Nano's 20 bar and Mino's 22 bar describe maximum pump pressure. They don't tell you the pressure at which your espresso is actually brewed. A higher pump maximum is therefore no reason to expect better flavour. What matters is how water, grind, dose and brewing work together.

Why does Ceramax mention both 9 and 20 bar?

We also state a maximum pump pressure of 20 bar for Ceramax. That figure needs the same explanation. Around 9 bar describes the extraction pressure during brewing. Maximum pump pressure and extraction pressure are different measurements. Actual pressure also depends on the resistance of the coffee.

With Ceramax, you can adjust your brewing yourself. Distribute 18–20 grams of coffee in a bottomless 58 mm portafilter and watch the espresso flow. Based on what you see and taste, adjust your grind, dose or preparation. That takes practice and a suitable espresso grinder.

Ask for personal advice
What is an alternative to Outin Nano?

Cerapresso is a direct alternative for capsules and ground coffee, with a 13,500 mAh battery and 150 W of device power. The basket for around 14–16 grams is included as standard, and you operate the machine with its button. Travel Kit adds app settings and a case.

What does Cera+ offer compared with Outin Mino?

Cerapresso and Travel Kit have 3 × 4,500 mAh battery cells compared with Mino's 3 × 3,000 mAh. Their standard basket holds around 14–16 grams compared with Mino's maximum of 12 grams. Travel Kit lets you adjust brewing through the app. Ceramax holds 18–20 grams in a bottomless 58 mm basket, which you prepare yourself.

Which Cera+ suits me if I only use capsules?

Choose Cerapresso for straightforward brewing, or Travel Kit if you'd also like app control and a case. Both work with Nespresso Original-format capsules. Ceramax does not work with capsules. If you're choosing a machine for capsules, coffee basket capacity isn't an advantage: focus on controls, battery use and what's included.

Can I adjust temperature and extraction time?

With Cerapresso Travel Kit and Ceramax, the app lets you choose 84, 88, 92 or 96 °C and adjust pre-infusion and extraction time. The standard Cerapresso does not have app control. Nano and Mino do not have these app settings.

Does Nano Basket Plus fit Mino?

No. Nano Basket Plus is a separate accessory for Nano and does not fit Mino. It holds 16–18 grams of coffee. Basket Plus does fit Cerapresso.

Is Ceramax the best choice for everyone?

No. Ceramax suits grinding and preparing your own coffee in a bottomless 58 mm filter basket. You'll need a suitable espresso grinder. If you want to use capsules or do less preparation, Cerapresso and Travel Kit are a better fit.

Is 150 W the charging power of Cera+?

No. 150 W is the device power. USB charging power is up to 30 W with a suitable adapter. Nano's device power is 90 W, while its charging input uses 5 V / 3 A.

Is Cera+ better than Outin in every way?

No. It depends on what you want to do. Mino is shorter, and the Outin machines weigh less than the Cera+ versions. Cera+ offers battery capacity to spare, its standard dose, Travel Kit's Android and iOS app, and Ceramax's 58 mm workflow.
