About the cold brew cup

Brew and take it with you in the same cup.

Do you enjoy cold coffee at work or on the go? With the Cold Brew cup, you prepare it in the fridge beforehand. Fill the filter with ground coffee and add cold water to the cup. After steeping, take the cup with you and drink through the opening. You do not need a separate brewing jug and travel cup for this preparation.
What do you already have at home?Show less

If you already have a coffee grinder, you can use it on a medium-coarse setting. Coffee ground to that size for you works too. You do not need a coffee machine. Preparation does take time, so fill the cup well before you want to drink your coffee.

What the cold brew cup adds

Make your cold brew in the cup itself.

The filter beneath the lid holds the ground coffee together while the water absorbs its flavour. After steeping, drink from the cup or pour the coffee out. Reuse the nylon filter without adding a paper filter. Use no more than 400 ml of water and 30 grams of coffee for brewing. Let the coffee steep in the fridge beforehand.

530 ml cup capacity · Reusable nylon filter

Carry your cup by the strap.

The adjustable carrying strap gives you a way to hold the cup. To drink, open the drinking opening without unscrewing the whole lid. The transparent cup shows how much drink remains.

Close the cup lid, filter lid and drinking opening securely before laying the cup down or taking it with you.

Approximately 260 grams · Adjustable carrying strap · Closable drinking opening

How do you adjust the flavour?Show less

Start with a fixed recipe.

Try 25 grams of medium-coarse ground coffee with 400 ml of cold water as a starting recipe. Taste after approximately 12 hours in the fridge. The right steeping time depends on your coffee, grind and taste. Note what you use and how long the coffee has steeped.

Change one thing at a time.

For a stronger drink, try slightly more coffee in your next brew, up to 30 grams. Keep the water, grind and steeping time the same. To compare steeping times, keep the coffee amount the same. This helps you judge which adjustment you prefer.

Remove the filter for cleaning.

You can take the filter out of the lid to empty and rinse it separately. This also lets you reach the areas around the filter and drinking opening where coffee residue remains.

How do you clean the parts?Show less

Empty the filter after use.

Remove the used coffee and rinse the filter inside and out. Hand-wash the cup, lids and filter with lukewarm water and mild washing-up liquid. Use a soft brush for remaining coffee residue and rinse the parts thoroughly.

Let the parts dry.

Place the parts separately to dry. Only store the cup once the filter and inside of the lid are also dry. This avoids trapping remaining moisture.

Is this right for me?

When you want to make your cold coffee beforehand.

This cup suits a day when you want your coffee ready before leaving. Prepare a small amount and take the same cup with you.

  • You can plan preparation in advance.

The coffee steeps slowly in cold water, so you need time and space in the fridge before drinking. For coffee you want to drink immediately after filling, choose a different preparation.

  • You use ground coffee.

Choose a medium-coarse grind with particles similar to granulated sugar. Grind it yourself with a suitable grinder or have your coffee ground to that size. Capsules and whole beans do not go in the filter.

  • You make an amount for yourself.

Use no more than 400 ml of water for brewing. Some stays in the ground coffee, so you get less drink out. If you want to make several generous glasses at once, keep that yield in mind.

How it works

Fill the filter, add water and let it steep.

  1. 01

    Fill the filter with coffee.

Unscrew the cup lid and open the filter lid on top. Push the filter out of the lid from underneath. Add medium-coarse ground coffee. For example, start with 25 grams and do not tamp the coffee.

  2. 02

Refit the filter and add water.

Insert the filter back into the lid from above. Close the clip by the drinking opening before screwing the filter lid tight. Add 400 ml of cold drinking water to the cup and screw the cup lid on. Close the drinking opening too.

  3. 03

Let the coffee steep in the fridge.

Lay the securely closed cup on its side while steeping so the water contacts the coffee in the filter. For your first brew, taste after approximately 12 hours and steep longer if needed.

  4. 04

Remove the used coffee from the filter.

Stand the cup upright and remove the lid with the filter. Let the filter drain over the cup and remove the used coffee. Clean the filter and refit it. Close the cup to take it with you or pour the coffee out.

Let the water contact the coffee.

The filter hangs beneath the lid. Laying the cup on its side brings the water into contact with more of the filter. First check that the lids and drinking opening are securely closed. Keep within the recommended fill amount of 400 ml of water.

Frequently asked questions

Want to know more about the Cold Brew cup?

Ask Koffiego a question
What is the difference between cold brew and iced coffee?

For cold brew, steep ground coffee in cold water. For iced coffee, brew with hot water first, then cool it. This cup makes cold brew by giving the coffee time beforehand.

Can I use pre-ground coffee?

Yes, if the grind is suitable. Choose a medium-coarse grind with particles similar to granulated sugar. A filter coffee label on the pack does not tell you exactly how coarse the coffee is. If needed, have your coffee ground to your preferred size.

Does this make 530 ml of cold brew?

530 ml is the cup's capacity. For brewing, use no more than 400 ml of water together with the filled filter. The amount you can drink is slightly smaller because the ground coffee retains water.

How do I keep my cold brew cold on the go?

Take the cup out of the fridge just before leaving. If you want to drink the coffee later in the day, keep it chilled while carrying it, for example in a cool bag with an ice pack. Put the cup back in a fridge at your destination.

Can I also make cold tea with it?

You can fill the filter with loose tea suitable for cold steeping. Follow the advice for that tea on amount and steeping time. The coffee starting recipe does not automatically apply.

How do I know when the coffee is ready?

Taste after your chosen steeping time. The transparent cup shows the contents and level, but colour does not tell you exactly how the coffee tastes. If you like your brew, note the coffee, dose, grind and steeping time so you can repeat your recipe.
