Espresso, milk and a layer of foam. They come together in the Sawada, a 280 ml ceramic cup. The thick wall gives the cup a sturdy feel. With the matching saucer, you put your coffee on the table as a complete set.

What the Sawada adds

The 280 ml capacity suits a generous cappuccino or coffee with milk. You have room to add milk and finish your drink with foam or latte art. Count the espresso, milk and foam together, leaving space below the rim.

The cup has a thick ceramic wall and a smooth finish. Warm it briefly before your first coffee so the cold cup draws less heat from your drink.

Why does preheating help?Show less

Ceramic absorbs heat when you pour in hot coffee. Warm the cup with warm water first and pour it away before brewing. Your coffee then loses less heat to the cup. How quickly your drink cools afterwards also depends on the amount and surroundings.

Look at the amount of drink you normally make. Frothed milk takes up more space than cold milk. The 280 ml capacity is therefore not a recommendation to use 280 ml of milk. If you want to keep making the same recipe, choose your cup to suit it.

Is the saucer included?

Does the cup fit beneath my espresso machine?

That depends on the available height beneath your coffee outlet. A coffee scale also takes up space if you use one. If unsure, send us your machine model and we will help you check.

How do I clean the cup and saucer?

Wash them by hand with a soft sponge and mild washing-up liquid. Rinse thoroughly and let them dry. Do not use an abrasive sponge on the smooth finish.
